Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of May 6,2010: Cal. No. 10-08 Petition of GRACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, to amend the PD Planned Development District located at 901 North Main Street. Mrs. Stewart presented the recommendation of staff: The subject site is located at 901 North Main Street and is currently developed as Grace United Methodist Church on approximately 5.44 acres. The petitioner proposes to amend their PD Planned Development District in order to replace their existing lighting with new light fixtures in the parking lot. The Zoning Ordinance allowed the site to be rezoned to PD without a site plan but no development may occur until a plan has been approved by the City Council. The PD Amendment has been reviewed by the City's Technical Review Committee; Planning, Engineering and Fire have approved the proposed amendment. Staff recommends approval of the Amendment to PD Planned Development District. Section XIX. requires the Plan Commission to hold a public hearing to review a Planned Development District Amendment, and then forward its report and recommendation to the City Council for final approval. A motion to forward Calendar Number 10-08 to the City Council with a recommendation for approval is suggested. Mr. Dan Young, representative, was sworn in by Mrs. Poland. Mr. Young stated Grace United Methodist Church is requesting approval of this proposal so the lighting can be improved at the church. The lighting has been inadequate for many years and they are trying to make a safe and secure environment for people to come to the church especially in the evening hours. There were no questions and no objectors present. It was moved and seconded (Livingston/Anderson)to forward Cal. No. 10-08 to the City Council with recommendation for approval as presented by staff. Motion carried unanimously.
