Marley, P.E., Public Works Director �I <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinances Authorizing the Designation of a Truck Loading / Un ding <br /> Zone on the West Side of Jackson Street between Eldorado Street and North <br /> Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the designation of a Truck <br /> Loading/Unloading Zone on the west side of Jackson Street between Eldorado Street and North <br /> Street. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> At the April 13, 2010, meeting of the Traffic & Parking Commission, the Commission approved <br /> a request from City staff recommending the designation of a Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone <br /> on the west side of Jackson Street between Eldorado Street and North Street. <br /> For several years during major events, the Civic Center has replaced the current No Parking <br /> signs on the west side of Jackson Street with Loading /Unloading signs. General Manager Bud <br /> Wilcox, Decatur Civic Center, requested the designation of a more formal truck loading / <br /> unloading zone for the Civic Center use. <br /> Excerpts of the minutes of the April Traffic and Parking Commission meeting are attached with <br /> the ordinance for Council's review. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION; No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, at 424- <br /> 2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Richard Marley, Public Works Director, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to <br /> answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> Page I 1 <br />
