Marley, P.E., Public Works Director �I SUBJECT: Ordinances Authorizing the Designation of a Truck Loading / Un ding Zone on the West Side of Jackson Street between Eldorado Street and North Street SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the designation of a Truck Loading/Unloading Zone on the west side of Jackson Street between Eldorado Street and North Street. BACKGROUND: At the April 13, 2010, meeting of the Traffic & Parking Commission, the Commission approved a request from City staff recommending the designation of a Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone on the west side of Jackson Street between Eldorado Street and North Street. For several years during major events, the Civic Center has replaced the current No Parking signs on the west side of Jackson Street with Loading /Unloading signs. General Manager Bud Wilcox, Decatur Civic Center, requested the designation of a more formal truck loading / unloading zone for the Civic Center use. Excerpts of the minutes of the April Traffic and Parking Commission meeting are attached with the ordinance for Council's review. POTENTIAL OBJECTION; No objections anticipated.
