Marley, P.E., Public Works Director ��/^� <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinances Authorizing the Installation of Handicap YPar king aces in <br /> Front of 969 and 977 East Main Street. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the installation of <br /> handicapped parking spaces in front of 969 and 977 East Main Street as recommended by the <br /> Traffic and Parking Commission: <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Traffic and Parking Commission on April 13, 2010, voted to recommend the installation of <br /> handicapped parking spaces on the street in front of 969 and 977 East Main Street which was <br /> requested by Mr. James E. Hilliard, Sr., who resides at 969 East Main Street. Mr. Hilliard, Sr., <br /> indicated that people park their vehicles in front of 969 and 977 East Main Street for a day or <br /> two and emergency vehicles are not able to access either address. <br /> The spaces have been designated earlier under a 90 day order by the Police Chief. <br /> The Commission voted to recommend the installation of a handicap parking space in front of 969 <br /> and 977 East Main Street at the request of Mr. Hilliard, Sr. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION; No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, at 424- <br /> 2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Richard Marley, Public Works Director, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to <br /> answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> Page I 1 <br />
