LEGAL DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2010-05 <br /> February 10, 2010 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Oouncil <br /> FROM: Ryan McCrady, City Manager VV <br /> Wendy Morthland, Corporation Counsel <br /> Amy Waks, Assistant Corporation Counsel 0 r-� <br /> SUBJECT: Amendment to Chapter 34 (Traffic) <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff requests that Council pass the proposed <br /> ordinance amendments regarding Chapter 34 to change the enforcement hours of <br /> parking meters to 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., to allow for Downtown Employee Parking <br /> permits, to amend the amount of monthly garage parking fees, and to allow for the <br /> immobilization and impoundment of those vehicles whose registered owners have <br /> outstanding unpaid parking citation fines and suspension of driving privileges for those <br /> registered owners who have ten unpaid parking citations. <br /> BACKGROUND: In the course of studying parking in downtown Decatur, Council has <br /> requested staff to prepare ordinances making some changes and adding enforcement <br /> policies to Chapter 34. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Council pass the proposed <br /> amendments. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known or expected objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Amy Waks, Assistant Corporation Counsel, at 424-2807. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br />
