r <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2009-82 <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE <br /> - WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS - <br /> WHEREAS, on the 5th day of November, 2009, upon due notice, the Decatur City Plan <br /> Commission held a public hearing on the petition of Greg C. Crowe, Assistant City Manager, to <br /> modify and amend the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Decatur, the same being Ordinance No. <br /> 3512, as amended, and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Decatur City Plan Commission did report its findings and did <br /> recommend that said petition be granted and that the Zoning Ordinance be so modified and <br /> amended. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That the report and recommendation of the Decatur City Plan Commission be, <br /> and the same are hereby, received, placed on file and approved. <br /> Section 2. That Section II. of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Decatur (Ord. No. <br /> 3512 as amended by Ord. No. 2002-33) be, and the same is hereby, amended by adding two new <br /> definitions in their correct alphabetical order, said new definitions to provide as follows: <br /> SECTION 1I. DEFINITIONS. <br /> WIND ENERGY SYSTEM (WES): An aggregation of parts including the base, <br /> tower, generator, rotor, blades, supports, guy wires and accessory equipment such <br /> as utility interconnect and battery banks, etc., in such configuration as necessary to <br /> convert the power of wind into mechanical or electrical energy, e.g., wind charger, <br /> windmill or wind turbine. The wind energy system is incidental and subordinate to <br /> a permitted use on the same lot. WES are permitted only for electrical power to be <br />
