Staff also recommends approval of the attached annexation petition. Staff is of the opinion
that the proposed annexation would produce a logical extension of the corporate limits.
BACKGROUND: A valid petition seeking voluntary annexation of the subject premises has been filed
with the City Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 0.10 acres, the property is undeveloped. The
property is surrounded by properties zoned R-3, Single Family Residence District to the North, East and
West; property to the South is in the County. When annexed, the area will come into the city as R-3,
Single Family Residence District. The following information is relevant to the area in question:
I. The parcel is currently undeveloped.
2. City water is available at Redlich Drive.
3. Sanitary sewer is available.
4. The average fire response time from the Decatur Fire Department is eight(8)minutes.
5. Redlich Drive is constructed of asphalt and maintained by the City of Decatur.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: The City Plan Commission reviewed the rezoning petition on November
5,2009, and made a recommendation for approval with a vote of 7-0.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by
Municipal Services, Water Distribution, Engineering, Fire, Legal, Finance, the Macon County Health
Department and the Decatur Sanitary District.
STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Suzan Stickle at 424-2786 or at
sstickle@decaturil.gov.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of approximately $82.89 would
become available from the combined total real estate ($82.89.) motor fuel ($0.00) and state income taxes
($0.00).
