Morthland, Corporation Counsel <br /> SUBJECT: Proposed Amendments to City Code, Chapters 7 and 34 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council adopt two proposed <br /> amendments to Decatur City Code at Chapter 7, Officers and Employees <br /> Generally and Chapter 34 Traffic. <br /> BACKGROUND: The current language in City Code Chapter 7 identifies an <br /> employee as "Human Relations Specialists" who is identified as the "Human <br /> Rights Officer" in City Code Chapter 28. In order to provide consistency in the <br /> title of the employee, it is recommended that Chapter 7 be amended to strike <br /> "Human Relations Specialists" and amended it to "Human Rights Officer". <br /> The current language in Chapter 34, Section 38 B. v. designates Tuesday <br /> as the hearing date. Staff proposes to delete Tuesday as the specific day for <br /> hearings. <br /> PUBLIC IMPACT: None. Most citizens and legal professionals refer to the <br /> employee as the "Human Rights Officer," currently. <br /> BUDGET IMPLICATIONS: There are no budget implications in adopting the <br /> proposed amendments. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Mark D.
