Stewart, Transportation Planne <br /> SUBJECT: Conditional Use Permit to allow a crematory in an accessory structure in the B-2 <br /> Commercial District located at 2801 North Monroe Avenue <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the Conditional Use <br /> Permit to allow a crematory in an accessory structure. The City Plan Commission voted 7-0 to <br /> recommend approval of this petition at the May 7, 2009 meeting; the minutes of the meeting are <br /> attached. <br /> BACKGROUND: The subject site is approximately 5.61 acres and is developed as Moran and <br /> Goebel Funeral Home. <br /> The subject petition requests a conditional use permit to allow the use of a crematory in an <br /> accessory structure. A crematory located in the B-2 District requires a Conditional Use Permit as <br /> an accessory use in an accessory structure. <br /> The petitioner plans to have a crematory in the detached garage which is located behind the main <br /> structure of the funeral home. No exterior structural changes will be made and the crematory <br /> will comply with all state regulations. <br /> The funeral home has been located at this particular site for a number of years and it does not <br /> appear to have had an adverse effect on the neighborhood. The structure will be required to meet <br /> all applicable State codes and regulations. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no known objectors at the Plan Commission <br /> Meeting. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The Conditional Use Permit has been reviewed by the <br /> City's Technical Review Committee; Planning, Engineering and Fire have approved the <br /> proposed plan. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Joselyn A.
