Marley, P.E., Director of Engineering& Inf as pi'ct`ure <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Installation of Handicap Parking Spaces <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinances authorizing the installation of <br /> handicapped parking spaces in the 300 block of North State Street as recommended by the <br /> Traffic and Parking Commission at its April 14, 2009, meeting. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Traffic and Parking Commission on April 14, 2009, voted to recommend the installation of <br /> 4 handicap parking spaces on North State Street, along the west side of the ADM Global <br /> Training Center. There are no handicapped accessible spaces conveniently near the Global <br /> Training Center. The subject parking spaces are currently designated for 30 minute parking and <br /> the addition of handicapped parking spaces at this location would be acceptable. <br /> The Commission voted to recommend the installation of handicap parking spaces on North State <br /> Street at the request of the ADM. <br /> Excerpts of the minutes of the April Traffic and Parking Commission meeting are attached with <br /> the ordinance for Council's review. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION; No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic and Parking Commission <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director or Engineering and <br /> Infrastructure, at 424-2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> The Director of Engineering and Infrastructure, Richard Marley, will be in attendance at the City <br /> Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> Page 1 <br />
