Change Orders
The work currently being conducted in the sluice gate area has exposed areas that are not visible
during annual inspections or in the design process. Additional deterioration and damage has been
discovered to the sluice gates as they have been removed from the structure for inspection. The
gates are normally submerged making a thorough inspection impossible until they are removed. A
change order has been prepared covering the proposed repairs that need to be made.
Proposed Change Order 22 entails replacing the wearing surface along the ends of the sluice gates
and on the guide slots the gates slide along.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Hanson Professional Services, and HDR Engineering
STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, Richard Marley, Public
Works Director, Matt Newell, City Engineer. Keith Alexander and Richard Marley will be in
attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item.
BUDGEUTIME IMPLICATIONS:
Budget Impact: Funding for this project is budgeted in the 2010 Project Fund. The additional cost
for the requested change order is $50,000, for a total adjusted project cost of$3,442,023.34.
Staffing Impact: Staffing is in place to oversee this work.
This memorandum was prepared by Byron Bowman, Engineering Technician III, and reviewed by
Matt Newell, City Engineer.
Attach: 4
cc: Hanson Professional Services, Inc.
Page 12
