COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM <br /> PURCHASING & INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> #11-30 <br /> August 23, 2011 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Ron Neufeld, Financial Management Dire for <br /> Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for fence <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to General Fence <br /> Company to furnish and install chain link fence, post, and a gate at Parking Garage C located at <br /> Franklin and Wood Street. <br /> BACKGROUND: This fence will be installed at Parking Garage C to form an enclosure that <br /> will provide a secure storage for a small street sweeper and tools needed to maintain the parking <br /> lots downtown. <br /> The equipment had previously been stored in a similar enclosed area in Parking Garage B. <br /> However, the City has an agreement with ADM to lease all of Parking Garage B, so the <br /> equipment and tools that have been stored in Garage B must be moved to another location. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Traffic control requested the fence and recommends <br /> approval of the bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, 424-2747. Gerald Nihiser, <br /> Traffic Supervisor, 875-4879. Richard Marley will be at the meeting to answer any questions the <br /> council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $10,953.00 from the General Fund. <br />
