COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM <br /> PURCHASING & INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM <br /> #11-28 <br /> July 18, 2011 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Ron Neufeld, Financial Management Director <br /> Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor <br /> SUBJECT: Bids on Brush Chipper <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Vermeer Sales <br /> & Service for one (1) 2011 Vermeer BCI800XL brush chipper. <br /> BACKGROUND: The chipper will be used by the Forestry Division when trees are removed <br /> by the City tree crew. It will replace a 1998 Vermeer brush chipper with 3064 hours, that will be <br /> sold at a later date. The surplus 2000 Vermeer TS44 tree spade with 115 hours will be traded in <br /> on the new brush chipper. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Forestry requested the brush chipper. Fleet maintenance <br /> wrote the bid specifications. Both recommend approval of the bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, 424-2747. Randy Callison, <br /> City Forester, 875-4820. Richard Marley will be at the council meeting to answer any questions <br /> the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $43,120 from the Equipment Replacement Fund. <br />
