Perry, Purchasing Supervisor(? <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for sweeper <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Tennant Sales <br /> & Service to furnish one (1) 2011 Tennant S30 mid-size rider sweeper. <br /> BACKGROUND: This sweeper will be used by the Motor Vehicle Parking System to sweep <br /> Parking Garage B and C, parking lots, and downtown sidewalks. The new sweeper will replace <br /> two sweepers: <br /> • Tennant 6500 sweeper purchased in 2000 with 1079 hours of service. This sweeper has had <br /> a record of high cost of ownership with repair costs for the past year exceeding $6,000. <br /> • A "Green Machine" walk behind sweeper purchased in 2001 that is used to sweep <br /> downtown sidewalks. The walk behind sweeper has 824 hours of service and has limited <br /> usefulness. Its functions can be accomplished by the replacement sweeper. <br /> Both old sweepers will be sold at auction at later date. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Fleet Maintenance wrote the bid specifications and <br /> approves the award. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Director of Public Works, 424-2747. Richard <br /> Borders, Municipal Services Manager, 875-4820. Richard Marley will be at the city council <br /> meeting to answer any questions the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $47,646.76 from the Equipment Replacement Fund. <br />
