Perry, Purchasing Supervisor,' <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for Thermal Camera <br /> CT TM a _OMMEND A TION: Staff recommends —awarding--a-6ontract--4o—Law- <br /> Enforcement Associates to purchase one (1) Flir H5324 thermal camera. <br /> BACKGROUND: This camera will be used by the Police Department to conduct proactive <br /> enforcement measures and community policing initiatives in the designated Weed and Seed site. <br /> The thermal camera is used to locate suspects as well as lost/missing children and elderly <br /> individuals. Also suspects hiding in wooded areas, bushes, under porches, sheds, vehicles, etc. <br /> are easily and safely located using this technology. <br /> An identical camera was purchased in January 2010 and has been performing well. The camera <br /> will be purchased with money the Police Department received from a Department of Justice <br /> grant. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Police requested the camera and recommend this <br /> purchase. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Todd Walker, Interim Police Chief, 424-2741. James Chervinko, <br /> Deputy Police Chief, 424-2744. Todd will be at the meeting to answer any questions the council <br /> may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $5395.50 from the Department of Justice grant. <br />
