Perry, Purchasing SupervisorQ <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for tree and bush removal <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Romer <br /> Brothers Tree & Shrub Service, Inc. to furnish herbicide application and tree and bush removal <br /> along the South Lake Shore Drive embankment adjacent to Lake Decatur. <br /> BACKGROUND: This project is being done for landscape maintenance of the shoreline. In <br /> addition, from a safety standpoint, it will open the view of traffic on the road. Similar projects <br /> were completed in 2007 on Rea's Bridge Road and 2009 on Route 51 Northbound. <br /> A condition of the bid was the successful vendor must dispose of the landscape debris from this <br /> project in a legal and proper manner or in a landscape waste facility. <br /> The low bidder has also provided the City with the necessary bonding requirements and proof of <br /> insurance for this project. Romer Brothers completed similar projects for the City of Decatur in <br /> the past. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Lake Services requested the work and wrote the <br /> specifications. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Water Department Director, 424-2863. Randy <br /> Miller, Water Services Manager, 875-5705. Keith will be at the meeting to answer any questions <br /> the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $13,480 Tree & Bush Removal <br /> $ 1,275 Herbicide Application <br /> $14,755 from the Water Lake Capital Fund <br />
