Excerpts from Historical and Architectural Sites Commission Minutes of August 19,2015: <br /> Local Landmark Designation for Dennis School Monarch Butterfly Monument <br /> Public Hearin� <br /> Mrs. Irons stated when the Local Landmark Designation for the Dennis School Monarch <br /> Butterfly Monument came before the commission on April 15, 2015. It was later discovered the <br /> legal description was incomplete. The item is again coming before the Historical and <br /> Architectural Sites Commission for this reason. <br /> The recommendation for this project from Assistant Billy Tyus is attached to the minutes. <br /> There were no questions or comments <br /> It was moved and seconded (Nagel/Larcher)to declare the public meeting closed. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> New Business <br /> Local Landmark Designation for Monarch Butterfly Monument at Dennis School <br /> Chairman Hank Norris asked if anyone had any questions or comments for this item. <br /> It was moved and seconded (Nagel/Penhallegon)to approve the resolution recommending the <br /> Decatur City Council designate the Dennis School Monarch Butterfly Monument as a Local <br /> Landmark. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Public Comments <br /> Ms. Linda Burnham, third grade teacher at Dennis school, stated her students came up with the <br /> idea to make the Monarch Butterfly a Local Monument in tribute to the 1974-1975 third graders <br /> who proposed to make the Monarch Butterfly the state insect. Ms. Burnham thanked the <br /> commission for reconvening and working so hard to make this happen. <br />
