In order to apply for and receive any reimbursement the claim information needs to be
sent to the Department of Health and Human Services. The information must be in
specific file formats that document the costs in the form and manner specified by the
Department. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois is the administrator of the City's self-
insured health benefit program and is in the position to prepare and submit to the
Department the claims expenses in the required formats specified by the Department.
The one year cost to the City for Blue Cross to administer the reimbursement requests is
$6,000.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections.
STAFF REFERENCE: Ron Neufeld, Finance Director and Scott Clark, Risk Manager
will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council
on this item.
BUDGET IMPACT: The cost of the administration of the reimbursement requests will
be offset by the reimbursements from the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program.
