<br /> SUBJECT: 707 West Harrison Sanitary Sewer Lateral Replacement
<br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
<br /> It is recommended by staffthat the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the
<br /> bid proposal from Parks Sewer Service, Inc., for$8,800 to replace the damaged sanitary sewer
<br /> lateral causing a sinkhole in the road in front of the property at 707 West Harrison.
<br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION:
<br /> There have been no prior Council actions.
<br /> BACKGROUND:
<br /> A sinkhole was found in the road in front of the property of 707 West Harrison. During
<br /> investigation into the cause of the sinkhole it was found to be caused by the damaged private
<br /> sewer lateral serving the property at 707 West Harrison.
<br /> The property owner of 707 West Harrison was contacted to repair the private sewer lateral which
<br /> was damaging the city street,thereby posing a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the
<br /> public. In accordance with Chapter 74, Section 14 of the City Code, the Public Works Director
<br /> ordered the property owner to repair the service lateral. The repairs to the service lateral were
<br /> not completed by the date required; therefore the service lateral can now be repaired by the City
<br /> with the cost recoverable by placing a lien on the property.
<br /> The City received proposals for the repair of the service lateral from three local Contractors:
<br /> Parks Sewer Service, Inc. for$8,800, Barr&Robison Sewer&Excavating for$8,950 and
<br /> Binder Plumbing and Heating, Inc. for$11,652. City staffrecommends that the private service
<br /> lateral be repaired by Parks Sewer Service, Inc.
