E., Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Water Service Agreement for 1818 West Riedel Avenue SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing a Water Service Agreement between the City of Decatur and the property owner of 1818 West Riedel Avenue. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: There have been no prior Council actions regarding providing water service to 1818 West Riedel Avenue. In accordance with the City Code 64-12, water may be furnished to properties outside the City limits only through an agreement with the City Council. BACKGROUND: In 1981, a 12 inch ductile iron water main was extended northwest along Illinois Route 121 from Taylor Avenue to Mound Road to provide for a distribution loop connection to West Mound Road, and for the County Fair Commercial Industrial Park development. � As at other locations along the perimeter of the city, property owners along water lines that ' extend beyond the City limits, request permission to connect to City water. As required by City Code,these properties must enter into a Water Service Agreement with the City. The Water Service Agreement includes a requirement that the property owner petition the City for annexation when the property becomes contiguous to City limits. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolution and agreement.
