TO: City Council Members <br /> FROM: Michael T. McElroy, Mayor <br /> RE: APPOINTMENT RESOLUTION <br /> DATE: July 29, 2010 <br /> Approval is requested on appointments to City Boards and <br /> Commissions. Matthew Walters is recommended for the Heating, <br /> Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Commission. Walters has a <br /> bachelor's degree in Business Administration from St. Louis <br /> University and has been employed by Superior Fire Protection <br /> Systems since 2001. He has extensive knowledge of installation <br /> and maintenance of all types of fire sprinkler systems and will be a <br /> valuable addition to the Commission. <br /> Darryl Barbee is a reappointment to the Decatur Public Library <br /> Board of Trustees and currently serves as Secretary to the Board. <br /> Michael Deatherage has been a Decatur resident for 10 years. <br /> Deatherage holds a B.A. in Economics and Masters in Education. <br /> He served in the Vietnam War and taught government and <br /> economics in a Washington DC high school for 10 years before <br /> going into the used book business. He and his wife are co-owners <br /> of Novel Ideas Used Books and Gifts and he is the managing <br /> director of the Mueller Museum since 2005 and was involved in the <br /> construction of their current facility on West Eldorado Street. Gail <br /> Crookshank has lived in Decatur since the late 1970s. She <br /> currently is the Coordinator of Marketing and Recruitment for <br /> Millikin University's PACE Program and serves as an adjunct <br /> instructor. Previously, she owned a small business and served as <br /> the Executive Director of Marketing and Public Information at <br /> Richland Community College. Crookshank currently serves on the <br /> board of Race for the Cure. <br /> I met with Julian Marsh, Executive Director of the Decatur Housing <br /> Authority, regarding the reappointment of William L. Gosch who is <br /> eligible for reappointment and presently serving an unexpired term. <br /> Attachment <br />
