TO: City Council Members FROM: Michael T. McElroy, Mayor RE: APPOINTMENT RESOLUTION DATE: July 29, 2010 Approval is requested on appointments to City Boards and Commissions. Matthew Walters is recommended for the Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Commission. Walters has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from St. Louis University and has been employed by Superior Fire Protection Systems since 2001. He has extensive knowledge of installation and maintenance of all types of fire sprinkler systems and will be a valuable addition to the Commission. Darryl Barbee is a reappointment to the Decatur Public Library Board of Trustees and currently serves as Secretary to the Board. Michael Deatherage has been a Decatur resident for 10 years. Deatherage holds a B.A. in Economics and Masters in Education. He served in the Vietnam War and taught government and economics in a Washington DC high school for 10 years before going into the used book business. He and his wife are co-owners of Novel Ideas Used Books and Gifts and he is the managing director of the Mueller Museum since 2005 and was involved in the construction of their current facility on West Eldorado Street. Gail Crookshank has lived in Decatur since the late 1970s. She currently is the Coordinator of Marketing and Recruitment for Millikin University's PACE Program and serves as an adjunct instructor. Previously, she owned a small business and served as the Executive Director of Marketing and Public Information at Richland Community College. Crookshank currently serves on the board of Race for the Cure. I met with Julian Marsh, Executive Director of the Decatur Housing Authority, regarding the reappointment of William L. Gosch who is eligible for reappointment and presently serving an unexpired term. Attachment
