McCrady, City Manager Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator SUBJECT: Purchase Order for Transit Parking Lot Repairs SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution awarding a RECOMMENDATION: Purchase Order for repairing the asphalt parking lot at the Transit Administration Building to Dunn Company. BACKGROUND: Transit's maintenance department wishes to repair the asphalt parking lot on the north side of the Transit Administration Building. This project includes patching, filling cracks, seal coating and striping parking spaces. An invitation for bids (IFB) was advertised in the Decatur Tribune, posted on the City's web pages, and mailed or faxed to 14 contractors in Decatur. Seven of those firms requested the complete IFB. Only the Dunn Company submitted a bid by the deadline. Their bid was $18,689. Staff of the Department of Public Works developed the plans and drawings for repairing the parking lot, and estimated that the cost of the project would be about $25,032. Transit staff is confident that Dunn Company is well qualified and capable of doing this work. Therefore, staff recommends that a Purchase Order be awarded to Dunn Company at the not-to-exceed price of$18,689. POTENTIAL No objection is expected. Some additional staff time will be required to ensure compliance with federal prevailing wage regulations.
