Perry, Purchasing Supervisorc� <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for in car video cameras <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to CDS Office <br /> Technologies to furnish Panasonic Arbitrator in car video cameras and accessories. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Police Department has previously done extensive testing and evaluating <br /> of the Panasonic in car video camera system. Since purchasing the initial fifteen cameras <br /> approximately 1 year ago, the Police Department has been satisfied with the cameras. The <br /> cameras work hand in hand with the Toughbook computers currently being used in the marked <br /> patrol fleet. The system allows for automatic uploads of video which is less time consuming for <br /> Police Department personnel. The cameras can provide important evidence for trial, protecting <br /> the City and officers during citizen complaints and lawsuits in addition to ensuring professional <br /> behavior of the officers. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The Police Department requested the additional cameras <br /> and recommend approval of the bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: James Anderson, Police Chief, 424-2741, and James Chervinko, <br /> Deputy Chief, 424-2768. <br /> BUDGET: DUI Fund <br />
