Alexander, Director of Water Management � <br /> SUBJECT: Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District Agreement <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council approve the attached resolution authorizing an agreement for FY 2011 for Lake Decatur <br /> Watershed Protection with the Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District (MCSWCD) <br /> for $139,112. This funding amount is 20% less than FY 2010. Reductions were made in <br /> personnel and cost share project funding. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Since 1988 the City has annually funded watershed protection efforts with the MCSWCD. The <br /> attached agreement describes the services that the MCSWCD will provide to the City, including: <br /> • Planning and conducting at least 12 watershed conservation public education programs. <br /> • Planning, allocating and implementing watershed conservation cost share projects in the <br /> amount of$25,000. (T'his has been reduced from last year's amount of$40,000.) <br /> • Providing research, review and recommendations for watershed management related <br /> topics and issues. <br /> • Employing a full time Watershed Specialist, full time Watershed Conservationist/ <br /> Resource Conservationist and one-third time Administrative Assistant. (A one-quarter <br /> time Resource Conservationist position will not be filled this year.) <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None known. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith D.
