COUNCIL COMMUNICATION FORM
PURCHASING& INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM
#10-17
February 24, 2010
TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City ouncil
FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager
Ron Neufeld, Financial Management Director
Deborah M. Perry, P.urchasing Supervisor"
SUBJECT: Purchase of Outboard Motor
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to BRP US, Inc.,
to furnish one (1) E90DPLIS 90 horse power, 20" shaft E-Tec Evinrude outboard motor and
accessories.
BACKGROUND: The outboard motor will be used by the Lake Services on the new jon boat
& trailer outlined in memo #10-18. The old outboard motor has 941 hours of service on it and is
in poor condition. The outboazd motor is at the end of its useful service life and is budgeted for
replacement this fiscal year. The old motor will be sold at a later date.
This is a sole source purchase. The department has standardized with BRP motors for several
years. This allows for standardization of parts. In addition, the service center for BRP motors is
local (Mt. Zion), as compared to having to take it out of town to be serviced.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Lake Services requested the motor and approves of the
purchase.
STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Water Management Director, 424-2863. Randy
Miller, Water Services Manager, 875-5705. Keith will be at the meeting to answer any questions
the council may have about this purchase.
BUDGET: $7406.33 from the Water Operating Fund. ,
