McCrady, City Manager� Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrato��y�� SUBJECT: Purchase Order for Bus Barn Remodeling Project SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution awarding a RECOMMENDATION: Purchase Order for the bus barn remodeling project, primarily involving the remodeling of one office and the remodeling of two restrooms to meet ADA requirements, to the lowest bidder: Christy-Foltz, Inc. BACKGROUND: Transit's maintenance department wishes to make a series of improvement to the 30 year old bus storage facility, the bus barn. The first phase is the remodeling of one office, two restrooms, and miscellaneous plumbing and electrical improvements. The complete list of work to be performed is included in the attached bids. An invitation for bids was advertised in the Decatur Tribune, posted on the City's web pages, and mailed to numerous construction firms in Decatur. Following are the two bids that were submitted by the advertised deadline: Christy-Foltz, Inc. (Decatur, IL) ...................... $41,604.00 Jones & Sullivan Enterprises, Inc. (Decatur, IL) ... $45,000.00 Neither firm listed any exceptions, conditions or deviations from the advertised scope of work. The lowest bidder, Christy-Foltz, Inc.,has done work for the Transit System in the past and maintenance staff is confident that the firm is qualified and capable of doing this work. Therefore, staff recommends that a Purchase Order be awarded to Christy-Foltz, Inc. at the not-to-exceed price of$41,604.00 POTENTIAL No objections are expected. Some additional staff time will be required to ensure compliance with federal prevailing wage regulations.
