, ' -r
Since Central States is unable to provide ammunition in a timely manner, staff has located a
vendor that has the ammunition available for shipment. The old orders with Central States
totaled $26,963.00. The Police Department changed the quantities on the ammunition in order to
stay as close as possible to the dollar amount originally ordered. The reason the 223 caliber
ammo from Kiesler has a different designation is because it is packaged differently, however it is
still the same ammunition.
In general, ammunition is very hard to get in larger quantities. The federal government has
priority for the ammunition to be shipped overseas for the war. In addition domestically, the
general public is buying larger quantities for fear it will not be available in the future.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Police Department requested the change and
recommends approval of purchase.
STAFF REFERENCE: James Anderson, Police Chief, 424-2745. Jon Thomas, Police
Lieutenant, 424-2740. James will be at the council meeting to answer any questions the council
may have about this purchase.
BUDGET: $27,203.72 from the General Fund.
