Perry, Purchasing Supervisor� <br /> SUBJECT: Bids for Gate Valve <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to HD Supply <br /> Waterworks, Ltd. to furnish one (1) Mueller 16" gate valve with accessories and bevel gearing. <br /> BACKGROUND: The 16" gate valve will be used by Water Services and will replace a <br /> defective valve. The new valve will be installed in the water main at the corner of West Grand <br /> and N. Fairview Avenue and is vital to the operation of the 16" water main connected to the <br /> Division Street water tower. The valve must be operational to complete the connection of the <br /> new water main from the water plant to the Division Street water tower. , <br /> The defective valve was installed in 1949 and will be sold for scrap once it is taken out of <br /> service. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water Service requested the valve and recommends <br /> approval of the bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Water Management Director, 424-2863. Randy <br /> Miller, Water Services Manager, 875-5704. Randy will be at the meeting to answer any <br /> questions the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $6470 from the Water Operating Fund. <br />
