LEGAL DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2009-14 <br /> December 16, 2009 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager � <br /> Wendy L. Morthland, Corporation Counsel <br /> SUBJECT: Amendments to the Freedom of Information Act <br /> Extensive amendments have been made to the Freedom of Information Act. The <br /> amendments become effective January 1, 2010. One amendment requires the <br /> appointment of Freedom of Information Officers which shall be designated Freedom of <br /> Information Administrators. <br /> It is our recommendation that the City Council direct and authorize the City <br /> Manager to appoint at least finro (2) Freedom of Information Administrators to comply <br /> with the recent amendment. <br /> The attached resolution gives the City Manager the authority to appoint the <br /> Freedom of Information Administrators and to cause that to be done to keep the City in <br /> compliance with the Act, as amended. <br /> Staff recommends approval. <br /> WLM:pm <br /> cc: John T.
