McCrady, City Manager <br /> Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administratoz� :j��' <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase Order for a Replacemerit Front Cap for a Bus <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution awarding a <br />' RECOMMENDATION: purchase order for a replacement front cap for a bus to the Gillig <br /> Corporation. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Transit System's maintenanee department needs to purchase <br /> a replacement front cap for a bus that was damaged in a traffic <br /> accident. The front cap is a one-piece fiberglass shell that covers <br /> the entire front of the bus, from the bumper to the roof. The front <br /> cap of bus #9916 was damaged last week in a collision with a <br /> vehicle that ran a red light. The other driver received a ticket and <br /> his insurance will reimburse the City for this expense. <br /> The front cap is only available from the bus manufacturer, Gillig <br /> Corporation. The attached price quote lists their price for the front <br /> cap, including delivery to Decatur, at $5,559.36. <br /> POTENTIAL No objections are expected. <br /> OBJECTION: <br /> INPUT FROM James Gillum, Maintenance Superintendent <br /> OTAER SOURCES: Decatur Public Transit System <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME The cost of the replacement front cap is an operating expense that <br /> IMPLICATIONS: is included in the current budget.
