Perry, Purchasing Supervisor�' SUBJECT: Purchase of police pursuit vehicles and utility vehicle SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Miles Chevrolet to furnish five (5) 2009 Chevrolet Impala police pursuit vehicles and one (1) 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe full size utility vehicle. BACKGROUND: These vehicles will be used by the Police Department. The pursuit vehicles will replace 1999 and 2007 Ford Crown Victoria models currently in service. The utility vehicle will replace a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe currently in service. The old vehicles will be sold at a later date. The vehicles being replaced are: Unit#821, a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with 101,650 miles. Unit#822, a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with 93,000 miles. Unit#823, a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with 106,594 miles. Unit#843, a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with 102,864 miles. Unit#882, a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with 80,781 miles. Unit#881, a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with 114,708 miles. Miles Chevrolet received the State of Illinois bid for 2009 full size utility vehicles. In addition, Miles Chevrolet also has the 2009 Cook County bid for police pursuit vehicles. The City of Decatur is allowed to purchase vehicles from either of these agreements. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Police Department requested the vehicles. Fleet Maintenance wrote the bid specifications. STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, 424-2747. Richard will be at the council meeting to answer any questions the council may have about this purchase. BUDGET: $99,495.00—5 Police Pursuit Vehicles $25,879.20—Full Size Utility Vehicle Both from the Equipment Replacement Fund
