. - • .
.
failure of a pump station could result in extensive sanitary sewer backups into homes, streets, and
waterways in the City. As part of the Sanitary District's service, the pump stations were equipped with
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA) electronic monitoring equipment. Should a pump
station fail, an electronic signal is sent to the Sanitary District's operation and control room, This
function is staffed 24-7 so that maintenance workers can be dispatched immediately. The District has
been able to provide this vital service to the City through shared governmental cooperation that
benefits both City and Sanitary District wastewater customers.
Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement
The 2002 Intergovernmental Agreement has been updated to reflect the 19 sanitary sewer pump
stations currently owned by the City(Section 1). The Resolution authorizes the City
Manager to reimburse the Sanitary District of Decatur for normal yearly rate increases proportional to
the Consumer Price Index- Urban(CPI-U)prepared by the United States Department of Labor-
Bureau of Labor and Statistics and published on their website.
