Perry, Purchasing Supervisor a n (1��C SUBJECT: Bids for Thermal Imaging Cameras SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to AEC Fire & Safety to furnish three (3) MSA Evolution 5800 Series thermal imaging cameras. BACKGROUND: This equipment will be used by the Fire Department. Federal law requires the Fire Department to have a crew of firefighters designated as a Rapid Intervention Team anytime they enter a burning structure. Currently, the last fire company arriving at the scene of a structure fire is the designated RIT company. The RIT company needs to have tools to perform emergency rescue of any trapped firefighters. The tools consist of thermal imaging cameras, RIT packs, saws, and other tools deemed necessary. The Fire Department has this emergency equipment on three fire trucks. Through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, we will be able to place these cameras on all of the City's fire apparatus. This will allow the Fire Department to designate any fire company in the city as a RIT company. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The Fire Department requested the cameras and recommends approval of bid. STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Sekosky, Fire Chief, 424-2811. Jeff Abbott, Deputy Fire Chief, 424-2811. Matt will be at the council meeting to answer any questions the council may have about this purchase. BUDGET: $27,273.00 from an 80/20 share program from the Firefighters Grant Program and the General Fund.
