PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2009 - 37 <br /> DATE: May 20, 2009 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager � <br /> Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director J��� <br /> SUBJECT: AutoCAD Software Licenses Renewal <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving the <br /> expenditure of$8,865.24 for 8 AutoCAD 2010 software licenses and 4 AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 <br /> Crossgrade licenses, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign said resolution, and the City Clerk <br /> to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Prior Council Action <br /> There has been no prior Council action regarding the Engineering Division's AutoCAD licenses. <br /> Design and Mapping <br /> The Engineering Division uses AutoCAD as the primary design software for the various projects <br /> and mapping work completed by the Division. The Engineering Division budgets for 12 yearly <br /> licenses for AutoCAD software to keep up to date with the latest revisions. This year, it is <br /> proposed that 4 of the 121icenses be upgraded to AutoCAD Map which will enable engineering <br /> staff to update the City's Geographic Information System(GIS) and keep property, right of way, <br /> and City utility(sewer, water storm drains, lighting, traffic signals, etc.)maps up to date. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G. Marley, Public Works Director, at <br /> 424-2747 <br /> Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council Meeting to answer questions of the <br /> Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Funding for the AutoCAD Software Licenses Renewal will come from the General Fund's <br /> Engineering Operating Expenses. <br /> This Memorandum was prepared by Matthew C.
