PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM NO. 2009 - 37 DATE: May 20, 2009 TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager � Richard G. Marley, P.E., Public Works Director J�� SUBJECT: AutoCAD Software Licenses Renewal SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving the expenditure of$8,865.24 for 8 AutoCAD 2010 software licenses and 4 AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 Crossgrade licenses, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign said resolution, and the City Clerk to attest. BACKGROUND: Prior Council Action There has been no prior Council action regarding the Engineering Division's AutoCAD licenses. Design and Mapping The Engineering Division uses AutoCAD as the primary design software for the various projects and mapping work completed by the Division. The Engineering Division budgets for 12 yearly licenses for AutoCAD software to keep up to date with the latest revisions. This year, it is proposed that 4 of the 121icenses be upgraded to AutoCAD Map which will enable engineering staff to update the City's Geographic Information System(GIS) and keep property, right of way, and City utility(sewer, water storm drains, lighting, traffic signals, etc.)maps up to date. POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G.
