Perry, Purchasing Supervisor� <br />� SUBJECT: Bids to re air earbox <br />� P g <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Bodine <br /> _ Electric to furnish repairs to the Hansen gearbox in the primary basin. <br /> BACKGROUND: The primary basin at the South Water Treatment Plant serves as the mixer <br /> of the chemicals, and as such, removes dirt and particles out of the water during pretreatment. <br /> One of the mixers is out of service due to a damaged gearbox. <br /> The gearbox to be repaired was original to the plant when it was placed in service in 1988. No <br /> work has been performed to this equipment other than preventative maintenance. Since the plant <br /> is in operation 24/7 it is not unusual that a bearing would be going out of service. <br /> The low bidder has provided the city with the necessary bonding requirement. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water Management requested the repair and wrote the <br /> specifications. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, 424-2763. Rob <br /> Shirley, Water Production Manager, 424-2866. Keith will be at the council meeting to answer <br /> any questions the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $14,905.80 from the Water Capital Fund. <br />
