Alexander, Director of Water Management � <br /> SUBJECT: Agricultural Watershed Institute Research and Education Agreement <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing an Agreement with the Agricultural <br /> Watershed Institute (AWI) for Research and Education in the amount of$25,000. ' <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The AWI is requesting $25,000 in support for fiscal year 2010 to continue and expand work in <br /> their current research focus areas, educational programs, and additional subjects as determined in <br /> consultation with the City. Work in these areas directly support Lake Decatur watershed <br /> protection and management of the Lake. Major work categories are: <br /> • Nutrient management <br /> • Beneficial use of dredged sediment <br /> • Biomass energy to generate electricity and heat <br /> • Water resources planning and management <br /> • Shared learning program <br /> If approved, this will be the fourth consecutive year of similar agreements with AWI. For this <br /> year, AWI has voluntarily requested $S,OOO less than in previous years. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br />� None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith D.
