. <br /> Mass Transit Memorandum <br /> No. 042809-2 <br /> April 28,2009 I <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Ryan McCrady, City Manager <br /> Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator, � �. <br /> .�-j-�i� <br /> SUBJECT: Committee to Evaluate Proposals for a Transit Management Contract <br /> SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution appointing the '� <br /> RECOMMENDATION: following people to a committee to evaluate proposals for a transit <br /> management contract: Patrick Laegeler, Betsy Stockard and Paul <br /> McChancy <br /> BACKGROUND: The City currently has a contract with First Transit, Inc. to manage, <br /> staff and operate the Decatur Public Transit System. That contract <br /> expires on July 1 st. Staff has requested proposals for a new 5 year <br /> contract and two firms submitted proposals by the advertised <br /> deadline. A three person committee must be appointed to evaluate <br /> the two proposals and to make a recommendation to the full City <br /> Council. Staff recommends that the City Council appoint the <br /> following people to serve on the evaluation committee: <br /> • Patrick Laegeler, City Council Member; <br /> • Betsy Stockard, former City Council Member; and <br /> • Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator. <br /> These people have been contacted and they are willing to serve on <br /> the evaluation committee, if appointed by Council. <br /> POTENTIAL No objection is expected. <br /> OBJECTION: <br /> INPUT FROM None <br /> OTHERSOURCES: <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> BUDGET/TIME There are no costs associated with the committee's efforts. The <br /> IMPLICATIONS: time spent by each committee member is estimated to be no more <br /> than 5 hours, total. <br />
