, 1 . .
DEPARTMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT
Memorandum No. 2008 - 36
December 23, 2008
TO: Honorable Mayar Carrigan and City Council
FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager ;U`"'
John A. Smith, Assistant City Manager far Public Services
Keith D. Alexander, Director of Water Management i
l`
SUBJECT: Lime Residual Lagoons Monitoring Station Repairs
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing Lime Residual Lagoons Monitoring Station
Repairs to be performed by Wunderlich-Malec, Inc. at a cost not to exceed $17,500.
BACKGROUND:
On October 30, 2008 Council received an informational memo on this subject. The station was
severely damaged during a September flood. Wunderlich-Malec is recommended as the sole
source contractor as they are the firm which provided the original design and equipment for the
station. Wunderlich-Malec estimates that the repairs may cost as much as $15,536.25.
Therefore, Council is requested to authorize an amount not to exceed $17,500 to allow for any
unforeseen additional work that may be needed. New electrical components will be installed at a
higher level than the 100 year flood water elevation that was previously engineered. The City's
self insurance fund will cover these expenses.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION:
None foreseen.
STAFF REFERENCE:
Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management, 424-2863 or kalexander@decaturil.gov
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS:
The City's self insurance fund will cover these expenses. The work will be completed in early
2009.
cc: Bill Graham, Wunderlich-Malec
Rob Shirley, Water Production Manager
Scott Clark, Risk Manager
Debbie Perry, Purchasing Supervisar
