The petitioner is requesting vacating the public right-of-way of the 1600 Blocks of
Riverside Avenue and Buena Vista Avenue. The right-of-ways are adjacent to the
petitioner's property. The vacation will enable the petitioner o expand the Hospital's
parking lot.
STAFF ANALYSIS
1. Letters were sent to AmerenIP, Comcast Communications, and Af&T notifying the utility
companies of the vacation request and no objections to the proposed right-of-way vacation
have been expressed.
2. Because there is only one (1) licensed commercial appraiser in the City of Decatur, only one
(1) appraisal was conducted on the property. The proposed vacation properties have an
estimated market value of$15,000 which will be paid to the City.
3. The formal vacation of this right-of-way will not have an advese affect on the general
public.
4. The right-of-way is not necessary to serve the general public. Staf is of the opinion that the
best interests of the City of Decatur would be served by approving e right-of-way vacation
