. y <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2008-43 <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY CODE I <br /> -CHAPTER 25- ' <br /> -ELECTRICAL COMMISSION, ELECTRICAL CON�'RACTORS <br /> AND LICENSED ELECTRICIANS- I <br /> BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, <br /> ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That Chapter 25 of the City Code of the City of Decatur, Illinois, be, and <br /> the same is hereby, amended and modified at Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6, so that said <br /> Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6, thereof as amended, shall provide as follows: <br /> 4. APPLICATION FOR TESTING. Any individual desi 'ng a license as <br /> an electrician or electrical contractor in the City of Dec tur shall make <br /> application on form provided by the Economic and Urba Development <br /> Department, Construction Inspections Division. This applic tion shall then <br /> be presented to the City Electrical Commission to review. <br /> 5. QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT. Each appli�ant shall be at <br /> least 21 years of age and shall show proof of not less tihan four years <br /> practical experience in the field of electrical construction for power, light, <br /> and heat under the direction of a licensed electrician, or related work, or <br /> have satisfactorily completed an approved course in the particular subject in <br /> a recognized school. Such course shall be a minimum of four (4) years. <br /> Either or both qualifications shall be verified by the licensed contractor or <br /> school directly to the Electrical Commission at least two (2) weeks prior to <br /> the examination. <br /> 6. EXAMINATION. Once approval is granted by, the Electrical <br /> Commission the applicant shall make arrangements on his wn to take the <br /> "Standard Master Electrician" exam as prepared and admi istered by the <br /> International Code Council National Contractor Trade Examination <br /> Program. Proof of a passing score will then be su mitted to the <br /> Construction Inspections Division in order to obtain a licens . <br />
