Marley, P.E., Director of Engineering& Infrastructur Matthew C.Newell, P.E., City Engine�� SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Installation of Vario s Traffic and Parking Ordinances SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinances autho ' ing the following items recommended by the Traffic and Parking Commission at its May 13, 2 08, meeting: 1. The installation of a handicapped parking space in front of 824 East Prairie Street. 2. The installation of a handicapped parking space in front of 172 North Gulick Avenue. 3. The installation of stop signs at the intersection of Logan Stre and Lowber Street. BACKGROUND• The Traffic and Parking Commission on May 13, 2008, voted to reco end the installation of a handicap space on the street in front of 824 East Prairie Street which was requested as part of a zoning change request for the property. Parking is currently allo ed on the street and the addition of a handicapped parking space at this location would be acce table. The Commission voted to recommend the installation of a handicap parking space in front of 1728 North Gulick Avenue at the request of the resident. The Commission voted to recommend installing stop signs at the in ersection of Logan Street and Lowber Street. The stop signs were recommended by City Engine ring after completion of a traffic study which reviewed sight distance, traffic volumes, spe s, and accidents at the intersection. Excerpts of the minutes of the May Traffic and Parking Commission meeting are attached with each ordinance for Council's review.
