Stewart,Transportation Planne� SUBJECT: Annexation of territory located at the Southeast corner of Sub1nyside Road and West Center Street SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce a logical extension of the corporate limits; staff recommends approval of the petition with the following condition: 1. The petitioner is required to contribute $66,739.58 to the City of Decatur for improvements of shoulder and pavement on Sunnyside Drive and West Center Street, and improvements to a culvert under West Center Street. BACKGROUND: A valid petition seeking annexation of the subject prernises has been filed with the City Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 26.89 acres, the property is�currently undeveloped but is I in the process of being subdivided into 11 lots for single family residence . It is contiguous to the city limits. Annexation is requested for connection to city water. The prope to the north and west are located in the county; property to the south and east are located in the city nd zoned R-1 Single Family �� Residence District; when annexed the area will come into the city as -1 Single Family Residence District. The following information is relevant to the area in question: 1. The parcel is currently undeveloped. I 2. City water is available along Sunnyside Road and West Center Street. 3. Sanitary sewer is not available within the area. 4. The average fire response time from the Decatur Fire Department is six and one-half(6 '/z)minutes. ' 5. Sunnyside Road and West Center Street are seal treated roads and will be maintained by ' the city. ' INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department and the Decatur Sanitary District.
