Stewart,Transportation Planne� <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of territory located at the Southeast corner of Sub1nyside Road and West <br /> Center Street <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would <br /> produce a logical extension of the corporate limits; staff recommends approval of the petition with the <br /> following condition: <br /> 1. The petitioner is required to contribute $66,739.58 to the City of Decatur for improvements of <br /> shoulder and pavement on Sunnyside Drive and West Center Street, and improvements to a <br /> culvert under West Center Street. <br /> BACKGROUND: A valid petition seeking annexation of the subject prernises has been filed with the <br /> City Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 26.89 acres, the property is�currently undeveloped but is I <br /> in the process of being subdivided into 11 lots for single family residence . It is contiguous to the city <br /> limits. Annexation is requested for connection to city water. The prope to the north and west are <br /> located in the county; property to the south and east are located in the city nd zoned R-1 Single Family ��� <br /> Residence District; when annexed the area will come into the city as -1 Single Family Residence <br /> District. The following information is relevant to the area in question: <br /> 1. The parcel is currently undeveloped. I <br /> 2. City water is available along Sunnyside Road and West Center Street. <br /> 3. Sanitary sewer is not available within the area. <br /> 4. The average fire response time from the Decatur Fire Department is six and one-half(6 <br /> '/z)minutes. ' <br /> 5. Sunnyside Road and West Center Street are seal treated roads and will be maintained by ' <br /> the city. ' <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by <br /> Municipal Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health <br /> Department and the Decatur Sanitary District. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may co tact Joselyn Stewart at 424- <br /> 2782,�ste�vart'a-�decattiriL�o��. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of ap roximately $429.27 would <br /> become available from the combined total real estate ($424.00) motor fuel ( 0.00) and state income taxes <br /> ($5.27) from the property. <br />
