DECATUR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> MEMORANDUM# 07-51 <br /> November 13, 2007 <br /> TO: Mayor Paul O borne and City Council <br /> Steve Garm City Manager <br /> FROM: James Anderson, Chief of Po�l' � �p <br /> Matt Sekosky, Fire Chief ,/,/}�/�/ <br /> �L� <br /> SUBJECT: Chapter 14-FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDAITON: Staff recommends that ouncil amend Chapter <br /> 14 by deleting Section 5. <br /> BACKGROUND: Upon review of City of Decatur code Chapte 14 Fire Department <br /> Section 5 Peace Officers is found to be no longer relevant and sho ld be removed. The <br /> need for additional police officers during disaster or emergency is now covered under <br /> agreements through ILEAS (Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm Sy em). Any need for <br /> additional police officers would be immediately be met by reques through this system. <br /> SUPPORT INFORMATION: City of Decatur Municipal Code urrent language reads: <br /> Chapter 14-FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> Section 5-Peace Officers When it is so authorized and order by the City Manager � <br /> in case of emergency or disaster or other need determined by said anager, members of <br /> the Fire Department shall have the duty to assist the Police Dep ent in such manner as <br /> they may be directed so to do.
