The petitioner is requesting vacating public right-of-way in the All yway between 200 Blocks of West Pythian and West Damon Avenues. The vacation will ena le the petitioner to further develop their campus with a cancer center. STAFF ANALYSIS 1. The petitioner currently owns all of the property adjacent to he right-of-way with the exception of Lot Nine (9), Block Four (4) of Pythian Home Addition n which the petitioner has a contract to purchase the property. � 2. Letters were sent to AmerenIP, Insight Communications and &T notifying the utility companies of the vacation request. An easement will be reserved for ility access. 3. An appraisal was submitted by the petitioner with an estimated m ket value of$3,000.00. A second appraisal is currently being obtained by the City. The peti ioner will pay the higher amount of the appraisals for the vacated right-of-way. STAFF RECOMMENDATION 4. Staff is of the opinion that the best interests of the City of De atur would be served by approving the request to vacate the alley right-of-way. Staff rec mmends approval of the petition.
