ORDINANCE NO. 2006-107 <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING CITY COD <br /> - CHAPTER 13- POLICE DEPARTMEN - <br /> BF, IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH CITY OF DECATUR, <br /> ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1. That Section 8 and Section 10 of Chapter 13 of th City Code of the City of <br /> Decatur, Illinois, be, and the same are hereby, modified and amended, so that said Section 8 and <br /> Section 10, as so modified and amended, shall provide as follows: <br /> 8. POWERS AND DUTIES. When properly assigned and on duty and so <br /> authorized by the Police Chief, auxiliary policemen shall ha e the following <br /> powers and duties: <br /> (a) To aid or direct traffic both pedestrian and vehi ular within the <br /> municipality; <br /> (b) "To aid in the control of natural or man-made disaste s; <br /> (c j To aid in case of civil disorder; <br /> �d) Auxiliary officers do not possess "conservator of the peace" <br /> powers; <br /> (e) Auxiliary officers shall only have arrest powers s provided by <br /> Tllinois Stat� Statute regarding "Assisting a Peace Officer' or "Arrest by <br /> Yrivate Person". <br /> 10. TRAINING. Such auxiliary policemen prior to enteri g upon any of <br /> their duties shall complete the 40 Hour Mandatory Firearms raining course <br /> and other police procedures as shall be conferred upon them ereunder which <br /> training and course of study shall be determined and provid d by the Police <br /> Chief and which shall be reasonably sufficient to equip such auYiliary <br /> policemen to perform their duties and which course of train ng shall be not <br /> less than a total of sixty (60) hours in duration. The Police Chief shall file <br /> with the City Clerk a certificate attesting the successful co pletion of such <br /> training by each auxiliary policeman before such auxiliary p liceman enters <br /> upon any duty. <br />
