Crowe, Economic Developme t Coordinato�/ <br /> SUBJECT: Amendment to City Code Chapter 41 for Outdoor Dining <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends amending City Code <br /> Chapter 41 for the use of public sidewalks for outdoor dining. <br /> BACKGROUND: The proposed amendment to City Code Chapter 41 will provide <br /> regulations regarding the use of public sidewalks for outdoor dining. The regulations will <br /> provide a safe environment for both the outdoor dining customers and downtown <br /> pedestrians. <br /> The use of outdoor dining is restricted to the Central Business District. Applicants who <br /> want to provide outdoor dining at their restaurants will need to submit an application with <br /> a scaled drawing showing the location of any tabtes, chairs or other furniture, or of any <br /> object or structure whatsoever to be used. An annual permit fee of $100.00 will be <br /> required. <br /> To ensure that pedestrians have a sufficient path a minimum of four (4) feet of <br /> unobstructed passage shall be maintained. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: N/A <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: Staff consulted with Downtown restaurant owners as part <br /> of the process of drafting the outdoor dining regulations. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Greg Crowe at <br /> 424-2725 or at gccrowe(�decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: N/A <br />
