Mi er, AICP, Senior Planne�m <br /> Greg Crowe, Economic Development Coordinatc� <br /> SUBJECT: Rezone property at 2540 Millikin Parkway to M-2 Heavy Industrial District <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the rezoning to M-2 Heavy <br /> Industrial District. The City Plan Commission voted 10-0 to recommend approval of this petition at <br /> the August 3, 2006 hearing; the minutes of the meeting are attached. <br /> BACKGROUND: The City Council approved a Conditional Use Permit allowing for the operation of <br /> a container storage yard with empty containers stacked on top of each other at the August 7, 2006 <br /> meeting. The property also needs to be rezoned from M-1 Light Industrial District to M-2 Heavy <br /> Industrial District. <br /> G & D Integrated currently operates an office and warehouse facility on the property to the west that <br /> they plan on expanding along with operating the new container storage yard on the subject property. <br /> The expansion of G &D Integrated will benefit the City of Decatur through the creation of a minimum <br /> of 80 jobs and a minimum investment of$5,000,000. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no objectors to the petition at the Plan Commission <br /> meeting. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Greg Crowe at 424-2725 or at <br /> gccrowe(a�decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None <br />
