SECTION XX. SPECIAL DISTRICTS <br /> D. A-OL, AIRPORT OVERLAY DISTRICT <br /> 1. Intent <br /> The intent of the A-OL Airport Overlay District is to promote the use and development of <br /> land in a manner that is compatible with the continued operation and utility of the <br /> Decatur Airport so as to protect the public investment in, and benefit provided by this <br /> facility to the community and region. <br /> 2. District Boundaries <br /> 1. The boundaries of the A-OL District are to be applied as an overlay district to <br /> lands which are owned by the Decatur Park District and/or the Decatur Park <br /> Foundation and commonly referred to as the Decatur Airport property. <br /> 2. This District may be extended beyond the current boundaries of the Airport <br /> property to include future expansion areas. Such boundary changes may be <br /> allowed provided copies of deeds are submitted and annexation petitions have <br /> been approved by the City Council. <br /> 3. Definitions <br /> In addition to the definitions set forth in Article II, the following definitions shall apply <br /> specifically to the A-OL. In the event that there is a conflict between definitions in <br /> Article II and this Article, those in this Article shall control. <br /> 1. FAR Part 77 Surfaces — A map or plan depicting the three dimensional airspace <br /> that includes the obstruction identification surfaces, including approach, <br /> transition, horizontal and conical surfaces, obstructions to those surfaces and <br /> navigational slopes for instrument and non-instrument landing systems related to <br /> airfield operations of a civil airport. <br /> 2. Airport Layout Plan — A map or plan, prepared by a professional engineer, <br /> showing existing and future (planned) airport facilities including runways, taxi <br /> ways, operations facilities, hangars and tie-downs, ancillary and support facilities, <br /> navigational facilities, building restriction line(s), runway and other protection <br /> zones and fuel farms. <br /> 4. Permitted Uses. <br /> The following uses may be located within the A-OL provided they are developed <br /> in accordance with the applicable processes and any amendments thereto: <br /> a. Airport runways, taxi ways, taxi lanes, aircraft parking aprons, and <br /> auxiliary roads. ' <br /> b. Individual unit hangars. ;, <br /> c. Multiunit hangars. '�, <br /> d. T-hangars. � <br /> e. Terminal buildings. I, <br /> f. Aircraft maintenance and repair shops. � <br /> g. Rental car facilities. <br /> h. Control towers. <br /> i. Aviation fueling facilities. <br /> j.
