Excerpts from Decatur City Plan Commission July 6, 2006.
Cal.No. 06-43 Petition of BOLD MACHINE WORKS to rezone
1909 South Taylorville Road from R 1, Single Family
Residence District to M-1, Heavy Commercial/Light
Industrial District.
Mrs. Joselyn Stewart was sworn in by Ms. Jesse.
Mrs. Stewart presented the recommendation of staff:
The subject site is located at 1909 South Taylorville Road and contains approximately
0.560 acres. The site was recently annexed into the city limits on May 15, 2006. There
are currently two manufacturing businesses located at the site. Malloy Barcol Overdoors
of Decatur is located on the north side of the building and Wright Products is on the south
side.
The petitioner proposes to rezone 1909 South TayloYville Road from R 1, Single Family
Residence District to M-1, Intense Commercial-Light Industrial District so that they can
be in compliance with the zoning ordinance. When property is annexed to the city it
automatically comes in as R-1; in order for the businesses to be allowed to continue in
operation the property must be rezoned.
Areas to the north, south and west are located in the County. The area to the east is
zoned M-1, Intense Commercial - Light Industrial District. The Decatur Urban Area
Land Use Plan shows this area as Light Industrial and Commercial. The existing use is
compatible with adjacent uses to the east as well as the surrounding area.
Staff recommends approval of the rezoning.
Section 29 requires the Plan Commission to hold a public hearing on a rezoning request,
and then forward its report and recommendation to the City Council for final approval. A
motion to forward Calendar Number 06-43 to the City Council with a recommendation
for approval is suggested.
Mr. John requested staff start providing the Commissioners with information from the
County concerning land that would surround the property in question.
Mrs.Nancy Williams, petitioner, was sworn in by Ms. Jesse.
Mrs. Williams stated they were needing the rezoning to comply with the City ordinance.
There were no objectors present.
It was moved and seconded(Nordholm/Anderson)to forward Cal. No. 06-43 to the City
Council with the recommendation for approval as submitted by the petitioner. Motion
carried unanimously.
