Miller, AICP, Senior Planner'� �'�� <br /> Vasudha Pinnamaraju, Planner '� �J��� <br /> � <br /> SUBJECT: Annexation of territory located at 4131 North Greenswitch Road <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff is of the opinion that the proposed annexation would produce <br /> a logical extension of the corporate limits; staff recommends approval of the petition as presented. <br /> BACKGROUND: A valid petition seeking annexation of the subject premises has been filed with the City <br /> Clerk's Office. Containing approximately 8.96 acres, the property is a single family residence. <br /> Annexation is requested as the fire chief of City of Decatur; the petitioner is required to live within the <br /> city limits. The property to the south is located in the County; property to the north, west and east are <br /> located in the City and zoned R-1 Single Family Residence District, R-3 Single Family Residence District <br /> and B-2 Commercial District respectively; when annexed the area will come into the city as R-1 Single <br /> Family Residence District. The following information is relevant to the area in question: <br /> 1. There is a residence, a duplex residence and a vacant lot on the subject property. <br /> 2. Sanitary sewer and street lighting are not available to the area. <br /> 3. Currently, city water is not available to the site. <br /> 4. The average fire response time from the Decatur Fire Department is seven minutes. <br /> 5. North Greenswitch Road is seal treated and will be maintained by the City of <br /> Decatur. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The annexation plat has been reviewed and approved by Municipal <br /> Services, Water Distribution, Engineering and Infrastructure, Fire, the Macon County Health Department <br /> and the Decatur Sanitary District. <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Vasudha Pinnamaraju at <br /> 424-2781,vgpinnam@decaturnet.org <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Additional annual revenue of approximately $785.68 would become <br /> available from the combined total real estate ($559.92) motor fuel ($91.45) and state income taxes <br /> ($134.31) from the property. <br />
