BGM Project 04-100 ML King Water Main
Water main piping into the basement of the water plant
This work includes connecting to the eYisting high service pump discharge header located
in the basement of the South Water Treatment Plant and creating a second discharge line
that would connect to the distribution grid on Marion Avenue. Pipe diameter will be 36"
to 48" in diameter. A new flow meter and check valve vault would be required on this line.
Estimated construction costs $1,000,000 Engineering fees $35,000
Revising the routing of the 16" water main at Oakland and Cushing
This work was required because of problems in acquiring easements in the area of the
Colonial Mall. The water main layout was rerouted along the west side of Oakland Ave.
(Rt. 8) and then west on Cushing Avenue. Additional IDOT permits were obtained for the
portion in State of Illinois right-of-way. The additional construction costs for this rerouting
are offset by not having to pay easement costs.
Estimated construction costs $0 Engineering fees $10,000
Adding telemetry system nd pressure transducers to the check valve vault on Rt. 18
Pressure transmitters and telemetry were added to the check valve site located on Rt. 48 in
front of the Sanitarv District of Lecatur's St. Louis Bridge Pump Station. This will allow
operational staff to monitor real time pressure of both the new pressure zone as well as the
esisting pressure zone.
Estimated construction costs $30,000 Engineering fees $5,000
Conduit and fiber optic runs from the SWTP to Garfield water tower
PVC conduit, pull boxes and tiber optic cable would be installed along the route of the new
water main in the sections from the SWTP to the Garfield water tower. This will set up the
basis of a new tiber optic communications network that would tie in kev city facilities.
Although not required for the operation of the new water mains betweer. the SWTP and
elevated water tanks, the new conduit can be installed under the pavement while the new
mains are installed and save considerable eYpense over installing the conduit at a later date.
Estimated construction costs $220,000. Additional engineering fees $20,000
Total estimated construction costs $1,250,000
Total additional engineering fees $70,000
